Dr Gus Casely-Hayford OBE is Professor of Practice at SOAS and the founding Director of V&A East, a museum and collection centre presently under construction in London. He was previously the Director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in Washington, D.C., and as a curator and cultural historian he writes, lectures and broadcasts widely on culture.
