Esme Ward is the Director of Manchester Museum and Honorary Professor of Heritage Futures at the University of Manchester, with a commitment to lead the world’s most inclusive, imaginative and caring museum. She is driven by a clear mission, to build understanding between cultures and a more sustainable world. Esme is the Environmental Sustainability Lead for the Manchester Cultural Leaders Group and chair of the Culture, Health & Wellbeing Alliance, and sits on the National Museum’s Directors’ Executive Council. She is currently leading on ‘Roots & Branches’, an ambitious publicly funded partnership project which aims to accelerate the museum sector’s ability to respond to the climate crisis.
