Portrait of Claude-Armand Gérôme

Edouard Papet, the Musée d’Orsay’s Senior Curator for Sculpture, is speaking on Friday 30 June to celebrate the acquisition of a new masterpiece at the Fitzwilliam Museum.

The Fitzwilliam Museum and the Hamilton Kerr Institute have won the Museums + Heritage Award 2017 for Restoration and Conservation.

Founder's dome

A restoration and sustainability project on the iconic domed lantern in the ceiling of the Main Entrance will close the area until early June to facilitate the erection of scaffolding. This may lead to some occasional gallery closures eg. the closure of Galleries 1 and 2 from 13.00 - 14.15 while our Sunday lunchtime concerts take place in Gallery 3.

Person using augmented reality app

The Fitzwilliam Museum is one of twelve of England’s historic cities that have collaborated to develop an innovative augmented reality (AR) app, which brings heritage to life.
