"As students in Cambridge, we visited the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology often, to study the enormous range of objects on display. It was the first time I had seen objects from so many parts of the world in one place and it allowed me to make connections between them. For example, the Ichi patterns on this Nigerian vessel echo the lines made on this Ugandan milk pot, and the double vessel form appears in many different cultures. This pot by Zoë Ellison is unusual too and shows her looking to the ceramic practice of her home country, Zimbabwe, for inspiration."
