An opportunity has arisen within the department for a fixed-term (18 months) Post-Doctoral Research Associate, specialising in medieval manuscripts.

This post is an exceptional early careeropportunity to be part of a busy, research-led curatorial environment.

The post-holder will support the Acting Keeper (AK) of Manuscripts and Printed Books with all aspects of the department’s curatorial work. Under the supervision of the AK, they will take primary responsibility for dealing with enquiries on medieval manuscripts, and other collections material as required. Working closely with other colleagues, they will help to deliver excellent reader services in the Founder’s Library, one of the Museum’s two study rooms. The post-holder will research and catalogue medieval manuscripts relevant to current research projects and priorities, and add entries to the Museum’s on-line catalogue, Collections Explorer.

In collaboration with the Assistant Keeper they will also have the opportunity to contribute to the public engagement and teaching work of the department, and to help with the temporary display of medieval manuscripts.
