Communications and Social Media Assistant

Full-Time; Fixed-Term

Salary Range: £23,067 - £26,715

The Fitzwilliam Museum houses the principal collections of art and antiquities of the University of Cambridge, and holds over half a million objects in its care. It is also one of the eight museums and collections that comprise the University of Cambridge Museums consortium (UCM). We want as many people as possible to know about, and to visit, our Museum and its world-class collections and we are seeking a Communications Assistant to help us do this.

The person appointed will be working within the Communications and Engagement team of the Fitzwilliam, immediately supervised by our Press and Media Manager. The work will range across media relations, social media, events management and marketing. There will be the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals for whom support is needed and who can provide excellent training and experience for the right candidate. The work will include:

Updating event and exhibition listings on our own website and others

Researching, posting and analysing posts on social media platforms

Supporting our Events Coordinator and helping to deliver events for both the Museum and for corporate clients

Supporting our Marketing Coordinator in reaching audience targets for a wide range of programmes and exhibitions

Supporting our Press and Media Manager to achieve local event listings, answering media enquiries, compiling and filing coverage and assisting at press calls.

We are looking for an enthusiastic team player educated to A level standard/NVQ level 3 or equivalent level of administrative/communications/social media experience. We can provide the right candidate with a range of experience and training in transferable skills that will help them progress in the fields of communications and event management within the field of the arts or more generally.

Fixed-term: The funds for this post are available until 31st August 2020 in the first instance.
