Map of London

The exhibition about the Fitzwilliam Museum's trade bills is divided into two main sections, Selling and Buying. If you prefer, you can also view the sections by looking at the shops' locations on a mid-century map of London.

The link below opens to show a section of John Rocque's large map An exact survey of the cities of London and Westminster..., 1746, engraved by Richard Parr on twenty-four plates. The markers show the location of the shops featured in the online exhibition. The different colours correspond to the two sections: white markers focus on the lives of the trades-people, while red markers concentrate more on the recorded purchases.
