I have done a couple of things:
1) our server is re-directing URL requests from /dept/coins/britnumsoc/* to http://www.britnumsoc.org/*
- this is catching almost everything (and in due course the search engine will drop all fitz refs)
- this means old bookmarks should largely continue to work from anywhere - ending up at britnumsoc.org
- except a call to http://www.fitzmuseum.cam.ac.uk/dept/coins/britnumsoc/index.html breaks because the files have changed to '.shtml' at the other end, however it breaks 'elegantly' in my opinion so should cause little trouble.
2) the contents in britnumsoc folder has been cleared completely but archive in britnumsoc.archived.20110126
