Two gold Indian coins showing the zodiac symbol of Capricorn, combined with the date

Jahangir is widely viewed as one of the great Mughal Emperors of India. His rule was characterised by political stability, a strong economy and religious toleration, with the emperor himself and his court fascinated by art, science and architecture. In 1617 Jahangir decided to indicate the exact month in which some of his coins were struck by using the signs of the Zodiac. Here the use of Capricorn, combined with the date, show that the coin was struck between 22 December 1619 and 19 January 1620.
