Figures on Fabric

Figurative compositions, religious and secular, have always attracted the talents of both professional and amateur embroiderers. The exhibition is predominantly of English 17th century needlework, an era particularly rich in the use of complex techniques and varied materials. Some English and European tapestries and woven panels will further illustrate the theme of figures decorating fabric.
