Sculpture and Commerce: The Corruption of Value?

Open Forum

Art has many values: the intrinsic value instilled by its maker, the value placed on it by the market, and the verdict assigned to it by history. How are these different values related? Has the increasing commercialisation of 'celebrity artists' led to a corruption of value or a broadening of creative opportunities?

Come to this Open Forum in association with the Fitzwilliam's 2010 Sculpture Promenade and hear an expert panel debate issues facing contemporary sculpture today.

Chaired by art critic Tom Flynn, the speakers will be:

Tue 16 November 2010 | 12:45 to 14:15
Gallery 3
Free, no booking required
