Description

Soft-paste porcelain tea bowl, transfer-printed onglaze in purple, painted in polychrome enamels with two scenes of ruins, and gilt.

Soft-paste porcelain tea bowl, transfer-printed onglaze in purple, painted in blue, green, yellow, red and brown enamel colours and gilt. Circular with curved sides, standing on a footring. Two scenes of ruins. A gilt band encircles the rim.

Production Notes

The scene on one side is taken from the left side of an engraving by Johann Sebastian Müller after Giovanni Paolo Pannini, dated 1753, of which there is one in the British Museum. See documentation.
