Linen band sampler embroidered with polychrome silks in double running, back, satin, eyelet, cross, Montenegrin cross, trellis and detached needle lace stitches. Three edges are finished with buttonhole stitch and there is a selvedge at the top. The sampler consists of two joined pieces. The design includes horizontal bands of inscription with dozens of small spot motifs above and below. The inscription is made up of two alphabets, the name 'Ioyce Leedes' and the date '8 JUNE 1675'. At the top there is an incomplete alphabet and numerals in rather less structured bands. There is also a small panel with the initials 'IL' at the bottom of the sampler.
