Quentin Blake: Drawn by Hand

To 12 May 2013

Your last chance to see this exhibition by Quentin Blake - one of the best-known illustrators of his generation. Enjoy book illustrations, etchings, lithographs, drawings and works done for hospitals in various and contrasting media. Plus, a display of pens, brochures, inks, watercolours, quills and other materials from the artist’s studio.

In a recent social media competition, Charis Millett made this charming comment about the artwork pictured right:
This etching reminds me weirdly enough of me and my sister hanging out and having a gossip in the buzzy way that insects do... This is why I love Quentin Blake's drawings so much, he can bring so much life and imagination to you with a few simple lines. And yes unfortunately I'm the shorter, rounder insect.
