STRIVING TO SAVE A MASTERPIECE

The Fitzwilliam Museum has launched a Public Appeal to acquire Nicolas Poussin’s masterpiece Extreme Unction (c. 1638-40).

The work is from a seminal series of paintings on the theme of the Seven Sacraments and is considered by many critics to be the most accomplished.

The masterpiece is valued at £14 million, but the museum has a unique opportunity to acquire it for £3.9 million – however, we must act now. Please help us succeed and donate what you can.

Nicolas Poussin (1594-1665), Extreme Unction, 1638 - 1640
