Get involved with The Big Draw from this weekend at The Fitzwilliam Museum

The Fitz is joining in the annual nationwide Big Draw celebrations, starting with the chance for families to create a large-scale collaborative drawing this weekend.

From 11.30 to 16.30 on Saturday 11 October, children and families can drop into Drawing Together and take part in creating a giant creature-themed mural in the Museum’s Seminar Room, inspired by the collection of wild beasts and animals lurking in the ceramics galleries and hidden in paintings. Illustration students and staff from Anglia Ruskin University will be on hand to offer tips and ideas for participants, and a temporary drawing station will also be available in the Courtyard. The session is free, and no booking is required.

Also coming to the Fitzwilliam Museum from Saturday 11 October as part of The Big Draw is the ‘Doodle Box’, a new family Fitz Kit full of activities and ideas to entertain and to inspire younger visitors to draw their way around the museum. Later in the month, the free workshop Taking a Line for a Walk (Wednesday 29th October 2008 11.00-13.00, 14.00-16.00) lets families drop in and draw with artists and members of the Museum education team, with drawing materials, paper and plenty of ideas provided.
