Included in the list are the earlier albums: Dans Le Rêve (1879), À Edgar Poë (1882), Les Origines (1883), and Hommage à Goya (1885). The Profil de Lumière is noted below, under the title 'Piéces Modernes'. This was also printed by Lemercier, and was the first, and as yet, only stand-alone lithograph by the artist.
Printed in an edition of 50, twice as many La Nuit albums were produced than for Redon's earlier ablums bearing titles with no specific reference to popular artists or writers (Dans Le Rêve and Les Origines). This reflects the increasing popularity of Redon's prints.
