Cover for La Nuit (Night)
The text reads:
Odilon Redon Night 6 lithographs, in an edition of 50 1886
The label affixed below the date is that of the publisher Laurent Dumont. Redon published the album himself and then sold it through Dumont.
This album was printed the year following Hommage à Goya. Here, Redon returned to a simple, evocative title, like that of his first album, Dans le Rêve. The title and the literary captions draw the viewer in, creating a link between the disparate images. In this context, the prints are presented as glimpses or apparitions of the mysterious nocturnal activities of different beings.
