A second edition of 25 was printed very soon after, before the stones were effaced and re-used by the printers.
Despite the text stating 'printed in an edition of 50', this album is from the second edition.
The albums were priced at 20 francs each on publication.
This was Redon's fourth lithographic album. The prints are not direct responses to Goya, but they reveal Redon's admiration for the Spanish painter and printmaker, who died in 1828.
