Roman bronze as in the name of Divus Augustus, 22-30

This bronze as was minted in Rome between the years 22 and 30 AD during the reign of the Emperor Tiberius (24-37 AD). In was issued in the name of Tiberius' deified uncle Emperor Augustus (27 BC-14 AD). The obverse shows a bust of Augustus wearing a radiate crown and the inscription 'DIVVS AVGVSTVS PATER', 'divine Augustus, father'. The reverse depicts an altar enclosure with a double panelled door and uncertain ornaments on top. The reverse inscription reads 'PROVIDENT S C', an invocation of Providence.
