Ancient Greek coin from silver Sicyon, 400-300 BC
This silver coin is from the ancient Greek city of Sicyon in the northern Peloponnese. It was minted at some point between 400 and 300 BC. The obverse shows a chimæra, a mythological animal with three heads, that of a lion at the front, a goat in the middle and a serpent at the back. Underneath are the letters 'SI' (Sigma Iota) for Sicyon. The reverse bears an image of a flying dove.
