Silver doppio giulio of Pope Benedict XIV, 1755

This silver doppio giulio is from the Papal States, minted in 1755 during the pontificate of Pope Benedict XIV (1740-58). The obverse depicts the pope's bust facing right, and the reverse shows St Peter in Heaven holding a temple, emblematic of the Church, in his left hand and the keys to Heaven in his right.
