Byzantine copper 20 nummi coin of Heraclius, 622-3
This copper 20 nummi coin is from the Byzantine Empire. It was minted at Constantinople, modern day Istanbul, during the reign of Heraclius (610-41) between 622 and 623. The obverse shows Heraclius in military dress and holding a long cross standing next to his son Heraclius Constantine, who is wearing a chlamys and holding a globe cruciger. The reverse shows the letter K with a cross above it, together with ANNO to the left and XX to the right, signifying Year 20.
