Medieval diner of Alfons VI as King of Majorca, from Minorca, 1416-58

This diner is made from billon, an alloy of silver and copper. It was minted on the island of Minorca at some point during the reign of King Alfons VI (1416-58). At that time Minorca was part of the Kingdom of Majorca, which was subject to the Kingdom of Catalonia-Aragon. The obverse shows a bust of Alfons with the inscription '+ALFONSUS REX'. The reverse shows a lozenge shield in quatrefoil and the inscription '+MINORICHARUM'.
