Waterloo Medal, 1815
The victory of Napoleon at Waterloo in 1815 led to the first British Army medal distributed to all men present at an action, showing a female figure of Victory derived from Greek and Roman art. This medal was awarded to Private Hugh Gormley, 6th or Inniskilling Dragoons. It was purchased by the Fitzwilliam Museum in 1989.
