43 Wooden headrest

Kenya or Sudan
First half of the twentieth century or later

Wooden headrest carved from a single piece of a heavy old tree branch with three smaller branches forming the legs, two of which have a strong curve. The platform has one pointed end, and a flatter, wider opposite end. The platform itself and its surface plane are irregular in form. The surface is also worn and smooth as a result of use, and there are traces of cut marks, some of which are very deep.
