39 Wooden headrest
Kenya, Rendille (?)
First half of the twentieth century or later
Wooden headrest carved from a single piece of wood with three feet. Two feet are straight and one curves outwards leading to a platform of relatively wide proportions with a concave upper surface, slanted towards the head of the user. The platform has traces of longitudinal scratches. The top and the sides of the platform show the wood’s original colour, the rest of the headrest is worn through handling and use. The lighter colours show evidence of where the headrest was handled around the legs.
