1 Fragment of a wooden headrest
Acacia species
Abydos, Egypt
Middle Kingdom (2119-1794 BC) ?
Although most of the headrest is missing, it is clear that it was manufactured in at least two parts from the holes at the base of the platform. There are traces of white plaster and also fragments of textile stuck on the surface. The headrest came into the museum in 1901 and is from grave D 108 at Abydos. There is no indication of the date of this burial in the excavation reports.
