See letter from the donor' dated 10th November 1985, 'The white fan was bought by my aunt, Lady Waley in S. Africa on her way over from Australia to present her daughter who had married over here (1926) - she gave it to me to hold at the ball my parents had in her honour- & then told me to keep it for when my turn came!'.
