Craxton shared his Cretan home with cats. ‘Greek cats are good examples of a feline Parkinson’s law,’ he wrote. ‘They prosper.’ They also featured on Christmas cards, with titles such as Catastrophe, Cat-a-pillar and Ten Puss Fugit.
