Notes(s):
From the 1511 Latin edition of the Apocalypse with the letterpress text of chapter three on the reverse. The general composition was influenced by the woodcut in the 1483 Koberger Bible. Dürer's training as a metalsmith is betrayed by the attention he lavishes on the candlesticks, perhaps partly inspired by those in Martin Schongauer's famous engraving Death of a Virgin.
