Sandstone grave relief, excavated in Aswan. The script is Kufic, a form of Arabic and reads: In the name of God, the merciful, the compassionate. Every soul shall taste of Death: then until we shall you be returned. O God, bless Muhammed the Prophet and his household; and have mercy on your handmiaden Zayn, the daughter of Hasan, the son of Abbas, the son of Ibrahim, the son, the son of Hasan, the son of Rabi, who died at the beginning of Muharram AH 441. The tomb stone therefore belonged to a woman named Zayn who died on 10 June 1049 AD.
