Description(s):
Late Medieval maiolica bowl, painted in black and green with, on the inside, an eight-spoked wheel with at intervals three circles.
Pale reddish-buff earthenware. Tin-glazed greyish-white on both sides; base unglazed. Painted in black and copper-green.
Shape 29. Circular with deep sides, curving inwards slightly towards the rim; narrow disk base.
Inside, there is an eight-spoked wheel or star surrounded at intervals by three concentric black-edged green circles with radiating black strokes between them. Outside, there is a green horizontal band below the rim.

Notes:
A bowl of the same form with a silimar central motif was recovered from butto A in the Palazzetto Faina, Orvieto. The concentric 'ladder' decoration on the sides occurs on a bowl excavated in Orvieto and given to the MICF by Perali and on one in th eMuseo dell'Pera del Duomo, Orvieto.
