Description(s):
Late Medieval maiolica bowl, painted in manganese and green with a plant in the centre, and on the sides lanceolate leaves and squiggles.
Earthenware. Tin-glazed off-white inside; lead-glazed pale yellowish-brown on the exterior; base unglazed. Painted in dark manganese and copper-green.
Shape 38. Circular with warped rim, sloping sides and flat base; the rim is pierced by two incorrectly placed suspension holes.
In the middle, within two manganese concentric circles, there is a plant with three oak (?) leaves and tendrils; on the sides, alternating lanceolate leaves and manganese squiggles with two manganese bands above.

The form of the leaves, similar to those on famiglia verde wares, probably indicates a date in the late fourteenth, or early fifteenth, century.
