IMPORTANT NOTICE
The Founder's Library will be closed from 20 February until 6 April 2010 for building works. During this period it will not be possible to consult material from the Department of Manuscripts and Printed Books: illuminated manuscripts, fine printed books, manuscript and printed music, literary autographs, and archives. There may be delays in answering enquiries while the material is not accessible.
We apologise for the inconvenience and look forward to seeing you after 6 April.
Visiting the Department
Curatorial material in the Department may be consulted by appointment. First-time visitors need to send or bring a letter of reference and a passport-size photograph. They may make appointments to revisit at any time in the future without further formalities.
Before visiting, scholars and students are advised to consult the following catalogues and reference tools:
Fine printed Books
Records on all fine printed books in the Museum collections are available on line through NEWTON, the Union Library Catalogue of Cambridge University. Select (Departments and Faculties F-M).
Music

A selection of manuscript and printed music is also available through NEWTON (see Fine Printed books above) and new records are currently being added.
Autographs and Archives
An index of authors is available in the Department. The Archive of John Linnell is catalogued in full on the Museum's Online Catalogue. On-going cataloguing adds new records on the remaining archival material to it.
