Pia Dowse is currently in her first year of studies in the conservation of easel paintings at the Hamilton Kerr Institute. She is currently learning how to undertake a variety of conservation treatments on paintings after spending a term making careful copies of old master paintings in order to learn about traditional painting techniques, materials and processes. Although her interests are constantly evolving as her studies progress she has a keen interest in the history of painting materials and how their uses may have changed over time.
