Conservation
Manuscripts and Printed Books
The Museum’s Manuscript and Printed Book conservators care for the Fitzwilliam’s renowned illuminated manuscript collection, music manuscripts, literary archives, and the fine printed books held in the Founders Library. All elements of the care of this collection are embraced, including their housing, storage, display and interventive conservation treatment.
Whilst the majority of material conserved in this department is bound, there is also an extensive collection of manuscript cuttings, as well as scrolls and contemporary calligraphy.
