Anglo-Saxons, Edward the Confessor (1042-66), Transitional Facing Bust Pyramids type, Worcester, Wicing. One of the finest specimens known of this extremely rare variety; it seems to have been the substantive issue at Worcester and Droitwich (see Stewart & Blunt, BNJ 48 (1978), 52-57). Bt Dr W. J.
