Ancient people and their monuments in the region known today as Nubia
Musawwarat es-Sufra, Sudan. The great enclosure of this temple is dedicated to the lion god Apedemak. The temples at this site date from the Napatan period (1000-300 BC) to the Meriotic period (300- BC-AD 350).
