Greek and Roman Gallery Project Progress Diary

In these pages we want to let you know how things are progressing behind the scenes (and the screens) in the Greek and Roman Gallery. My name is Kate Cooper and, together with my colleague Christina Rozeik, I will be writing a diary every couple of months or so to keep you up-to-date with what's going on. Other people involved in the project will also contribute to this diary from time to time.

We are both newly appointed staff who took up post in October 2008. My job is to work with Lucilla Burn on the look of the gallery, deciding which pieces are included and how they will be arranged. I am also researching the history of the objects, both ancient and more recent, and will be writing many of the labels and information panels. Christina is the project conservator who, working with Julie Dawson, will be preparing the objects to go back on display, while at the same time studying their technology and restoration.

The 2010 display of the gallery of Greece and Rome (gallery 21) was made possible by generous funding from a number of individuals and organisations including:

The Fitzwilliam Museum : Displaying Greece & Rome in the 21st Century
