Huge bowl (krater) with tall pedestal foot

Large lions with raised paw and grizzled muzzles decorate both sides of this pot. The unusual ‘egg’ shape would make it difficult to use for other types of everyday storage, and it may have been made for a funerary purpose, either to stand on top of a grave as a marker or to hold the remains of the dead.
