This project would not have been possible without all of the men in prison who have been involved from the start. The virtual gallery was their idea and many people have offered guidance on content throughout the development process. We are also grateful to the H.M. Prisons and Prison Education departments who have been involved with the project.

The concept for the virtual galleries has been developed and delivered by Richard Weston (Weston Digital Imaging)

The following people have provided technical support and content:

  • The IT Department at the Fitzwilliam Museum
  • The Photographic Department at the Fitzwilliam Museum
  • Michael Jones (Fitzwilliam Museum)
  • Andrew Crowe
  • Sally-Ann Ashton

The main project was funded by Heritage Lottery, Your Heritage Scheme, MLA Renaissance. Research for the project also benefitted from funding for the wider prison project from The J. Paul Getty Charitable Trust, The Lankelly Chase Trust and the AHRC Knowledge Transfer Scheme. Photography in Egypt and Sudan was taken during fieldwork supported by the British Academy and the McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research, University of Cambridge.
