University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) Events Administrative Assistant £20,764 - £24,049 Fixed term contract to 31 March 2015

University of Cambridge Museums (UCM) is one of only 16 museum services nationally to secure Major Partnership Funding from the Arts Council England (ACE). The Connecting Collections programme (CC) will transform access to the exceptional collections and research resources of the eight University of Cambridge Museums. Substantial digital innovation, high-profile exhibitions, imaginative learning programmes and effective marketing across the University museums and with wider cultural partners will reach and benefit audiences locally, regionally, nationally and internationally.

Working closely with the members of the UCM core team, you will play a key role in supporting the development and delivery of an established public events programme and ensuring the administrative service provision is professional and efficient with a high standard of communication and interpersonal skills.

We are looking for a candidate with an interest in and understanding of museums and how they engage with the public. Evidence of current experience in contributing to the delivery of event and communications programmes is required. You will have excellent negotiating skills and the ability to build good working relationships and be highly competent in standard software packages eg Word, Excel, Access, Outlook etc.

You will be able to demonstrate recent track record in a range of activities including diary management, arranging of meetings including drawing up agendas and taking of minutes plus dealing with a range of enquiries to the UCM Office. Organisational skills are essential as this post is not continuously supervised.

Flexibility, enthusiasm, reliability and diplomacy are essential in this role as is the ability to work as a member of a team.

Offers of employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory outcome of a Security check. Whether an outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University.
