We are seeking two motivated ICT professionals to join the Fitzwilliam Museum’s (including the Hamilton Kerr Institute) IT team and help us move our technology services onto the next level.
The Fitzwilliam Museum is the principal museum of the University of Cambridge. It has internationally important collections organised in five curatorial departments and provides education and information services for a variety of audiences. All of its collections were designated in 1997 as being of outstanding national and international importance.
With a review of our IT skills requirements, and the current pace of advancement of web and mobile technologies, we are now looking for candidates with an aptitude to adapt their demonstrable technology skills towards developing, maintaining and supporting a wide variety of existing, and new, infrastructure, application and web services systems.
As an IT professional serving the Fitzwilliam Museum & Hamilton Kerr Institute you will be working in a technology environment which is constantly evolving and being updated to the latest stable products. With an emphasis on service orientated client support you will work with a diverse range of professional colleagues who will benefit by you using your technical skills to help them resolve both common and more complicated problems.
The museum creates a rich variety of knowledge based digital content - creating, storing, managing, integrating and making this content available (both off and online) - technology and processes to support these activities are areas of development opportunity for the keen technologist.
The Fitzwilliam Museum plays a key role museum in the University of Cambridge Museums partnership, and its IT and digital programmes are supported by Arts Council Major Partner Museum funding, as well as by the University of Cambridge. As a computer associate at the Fitzwilliam Museum you will also be joining a larger cohort of IT professionals, working within and contributing to IT developments across the Museum, the University of Cambridge Museums, and the University of Cambridge as a whole.
Educated to at least degree level in a related discipline, you will have demonstrable experience, or evidence of a strong aptitude, in an ICT role requiring the depth and diversity of skills we have outlined in the further details.
Offers of employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory outcome of a Security check. Whether an outcome is satisfactory will be determined by the University.
