Limestone statue of a royal female

A fragment of a statue dating to the so-called Amarna period. The swollen skull is typical of representations from this period. The subject is possibly Nefertiti, the principle wife of King Akhenaten. Similar heads were found abandoned in a workshop belonging to the royal sculptor Thutmose at the royal city.
